Johan Tjärnberg appointed as CEO of Trustly

When we invested in Trustly more than 10 years ago, we had the privilege of getting to know Oscar Berglund. At the time, he was the chairman of the board. He joined the company operationally in 2013 as CFO, after a while he became the deputy CEO and in 2016 he assumed full operational responsibility as CEO when Carl Wilson, co-founder of Trustly and then CEO, decided to move into a new role. After more than 5 years as CEO, Oscar has now made a decision to transition into a new role where he can fully focus on business development and interaction with key stakeholders and open banking projects.

Johan Tjärnberg will become the new CEO of Trustly as of January 17. Johan has been the chairman of Trustly since January 2020. He has extensive operational and leadership experience from the payments industry, as founder and CEO of Bambora, EVP Retail Business at Ingenico and CEO of Point.

We are forever grateful for the amazing job Oscar has done for Trustly during the past 10 years and we are looking forward to continuing working closely with him for at least another decade. At the same time, we are very happy that Johan has accepted to become Trustly’s new CEO and we are looking forward to supporting him in the continued journey to build the global leader in direct bank payments online.
