Dear friends of A&D,
Today we are excited to announce that Stockholm Auktionsverk, part of the Auctionet Group, has acquired Uppsala Auktionskammare.
Stockholms Auktionsverk is the world’s oldest auction house founded in 1674 and the deal marks a historic milestone in Swedish auction history. By merging with Uppsala Auktionskammare under the Stockholms Auktionsverk brand, the new organisation will be able to offer the most comprehensive quality auction offering in the Nordic region.
Founded in 1731, Uppsala Auktionskammare has established itself as one of the most distinctive and successful auction houses in the Nordics, renowned for its focus on high-end Fine Art auctions and its solid expertise in art, antiques, design and jewellery.
Stockholms Auktionsverk, operating across ten locations in Sweden, Finland and Germany, is a leading force in both online auctions and prestigious live sales.Â
As part of the acquisition, Knut Knutsson (beloved auction profile and majority owner of Uppsala Auktionskammare) will take on the position as Chief Curator in the new organisation and also become a shareholder in the group.
This acquisition by Stockholms Auktionsverk reinforces Auctionet’s position as the market leader in the Nordics. With a strengthened foundation, the Auctionet Group continues its international growth strategy — with a particular focus on the UK in the near term — as it moves towards its ambition of becoming the leading auction platform in Europe.
